Pantone picked 2020’s color of the year and it is Classic Blue. Nothing beats the color blue… back when I first started delving into the world of makeup blue eye shadow was alwa yh s my favorite, I loved the blodbess it symbolized and how it could make an impact on its own with out any added pizzazz. Which is why I had to go back to my old love when it came to kicking off a nee additon to my blog called Makeup Mondays 🙂
So as you know I have been on a palette hiatus because nine times out of ten I can’t make half of the shades work for me… Wait a minute I have to start this post the only way that can be remotely appropriate…
Jackie, Jackie, Jackie, Jackie…Jackie Jackie…. if you don’t already know that intro do better. #imjudgingyou.
As I was previously saying finding a palette that I can do a complete eye look with is a rarity for me unless I am creating a single pan palette and picking the exact shades I want inside it. It is often that four or five shades interest me and look good on my skin and the other shades are super ashy or look like chalk. It is that reason that when I saw this collaboration happening with ABH I knew I had to jump on it. Not only is this the type of palette that you can make everyday wearable looks with but you can also kick it up a notch with the fun shades and duo-chromes included. It is essentially the perfect travel palette and will permanently have a place on my vanity.
I mean when you hear someone say that the shades they created were specifically formulated for deeper skin tones, highly saturated so they show up on the richest of ebony splendors (if you get that reference then 10 points to Gryffindor), and also look amazing on the fairest of skin you can’t help but buy it. But I’ll stop gushing now and get into what we all want to hear about which is an actual review.
Thepackaging feels very luxe, the kind of material you would expect on an expensive purse. It makes it so that any dirt or debris would easily wipe off, a much welcomed change from the standard velour packaging of other ABH Palettes.
The shades apply beautifully to the eye and blend seamlessly. The shimmers are creamy and there is minimal to no fallout with most of the shades. The matte shades are not for the faint of heart as they are very pigmented! The matte deep drown is a dream come true for every girl who is afraid of blacks. It provides the impact that the black would have without the harshness.
Overall this palette not only meets expectations but exceeds them! I would 10/10 recommend this to anyone looking for a do-it-all palette.
Have you purchased it yet? If so, what are your thoughts? XOXO
I love a good eye shadow moment and I love when companies come out with customized quads with coordinating colors that cut down the time it would take to find colors that go together… its kinda like the paint by colors of your makeup routine. So when I saw the LA Girl Eye Lux quads I had to get some and try them out i put them in my big box o’ reviews and promptly forgot about them until now…6 months later. So without further ado lets dive right in shall we?
So forgive me but I bought into the hype and couldn’t resist getting one of the newest sponge crazes out there. The idea of a velvet sponge that seems like its covered in a thousand tiny little hairs seemed a bit daunting and gimmicky but I am not one to shy away from a challenge, keep reading to see how it turned out.
Sometimes life gives you lemonade when you didn’t even have lemons. Complexion products have always been a love of mine since I believe the base is the the pivotal foundation of any makeup look (no pun intended). When Fenty Beauty graced the industry with a glimpse of what a fully inclusive shade range looked like and made it mainstream it seemed like it couldn’t get any better; but just when you start to get comfortable she did it again by not only dropping out products to round out your complexion routine but also expanding her already extensive range. I was able to get my hands on the new concealers and picked up a new setting powder as well. Lets dive right in and I’ll give you my thoughts.
The concealers mimic the same packaging as the foundations, they have a flat doe foot applicator that makes putting it on a bit easier. The frosted glass gives it a air of sophistication but makes it a tad hard to gauge the shade inside. The powders have a metallic topper but the inside contains a FB shiftier, I would have liked to see a stopper to prefect too much powder fall out.
Formula / Shade Range
The formula itself is very creamy… it reminds me of the NARS concealer and goes on very opaque but is very lightweight and super bendable. The concealers compliment the foundations so there are a whopping 60 shades available. The powders were finely milled and very lightweight on the skin. There are many shades and options available for all your different setting needs.
While I loved the expansion and the foundations I had a hard time finding my true shade in the range… since the original launch many companies have started expanding and it is easy to find a true match even in the drug store… over all the shades are impressive and the quality if there… I was unable to find a setting powder match but the shade I did use was very nice on the skin over all the collection gets a 4.5/5 from me.
Lets go on a friendcation! If you know anything about makeup then you have either heard of Desi Perkins or Katy (aka LustreLux) or seen some of their amazing makeup looks. I personally first found them through their affiliation with Ipsy and have been a fan of the girls ever since. When they first collaborated with Dose of Color I missed the boat, but this time I was determined to get my hands on one of their launches. So without further ado her goes the latest review on a launch ever!
The Glittered rose gold packaging is just as luxe as you would expect from the ladies and the size is perfect for both travel and storing with a mid sized mirror built it it makes doing eye looks an ease without having to worry about it being clunky or bulky. The textured front gives it a bit of flash as well as helping to resist staining which is a huge plus.
Product / Shade Range
The Pigments themselves speak volumes, when I watched their announcement video the mentioned how pigmented and creamy and easy to blend the matte shades where and I have to say they were right not only do they swatch well but they apply to the eye like a dream. The shimmers are definitely something to see in person… they perform like they are wet and apply to the eye almost like a gloss. While there are some shades that won’t get too much use from me I still like the palette for its diverse shade range and ease to create a full look without reaching for another palette.
I definitely debated on whether I really need this palette in my collection and I can say now that I am very glad that I decided to pick it up. It was worth every penny and I can say with out a doubt that this palette is … Bizzy Approved!!!
